Name & History
This is where it is said that Jesus walked on water.
Concept
The Zebulon will be Africa's first Green Hotel. Transplating the cultural significance of the name, Zebulon the hotel would sprout from an arid landscape in Southern Botswana. This boutique hotel would accommodate both short stay and long term residences. A place where old form would combine with new function in harmony, using minimal lines and ornate geometric patterns and lavish materials. The palette would reflect its immediate cultural surroundings of the Tswana and adopting Eastern culture in warm textures and bright tiles throughout. The hotel would create an oasis of clam and tranquility within a harsh desert landscape, affording shelter from the elements within the honeycomb form.
Design
The hotel will emerge from the earth growing in size, shaped to form a hexagon as it rises. The form will be sliced to reveal an open centre, allowing the visitors to view an open sky view from within the central atrium/ reception. This space will harbour an abundance of greenery and water, harnessed within a reticulation system that purifies the grey water within the building.
By incorporating water harvesting conservation as well as energy production technology into the plan, the goal of the project will be to maintain the highest possible energy efficiency.
